ACMA seeks informal feedback on lot configurations for upcoming 700MHz/2.5GHz auction

The Australian telecom regulator, ACMA, seeks informal feedback on lot configurations for its upcoming auction of spectrum in the 700MHz and 2.5GHz bands.

The ACMA, who was advised on auction formats by DotEcon in 2010, will use a combinatorial auction format to award the 230MHz of available spectrum for the provision of Wireless Access Services. The auction uses the CCA format, pioneered by DotEcon for Ofcom in the UK, and the lot configurations will determine how frequencies and geographical areas are packaged into lots for the auction.

Responses to the ACMA’s preliminary consultation are due by 2 December 2011, with a formal consultation to follow in February 2012.
