DotEcon and Analysys Consulting have been appointed to advise Ofcom on award options for the 2500-2690MHz band, commonly known as the ‘3G extension band’, and the 2010-2025 MHz and 2290-2302 MHz bands. The 2500-2690MHz band has previously been identified across Europe as potential additional spectrum for provision of 3G mobile services, but under its policy of spectrum liberalisation, Ofcom is considering how to make the spectrum also available to alternative uses.
