DotEcon wins new contract for Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator

DotEcon has been appointed to provide detailed auction rules for the award of 56MHz of 600MHz spectrum (550-606MHz) in the UK, and to assist Ofcom in the implementation of this auction. This assistance extends to the provision of software for the auction, the running of stakeholder workshops, mock auctions for stakeholders and the implementation of the auction itself.

Spectrum in this band will become available for award as a result of digital switchover. As such, new licensees may be awarded spectrum from when this band is fully cleared of its current uses (scheduled for the end of 2012). Ofcom’s interim statement on this award can be found here.
