India 3G auction finishes

The Indian 3G auction has finished after 34 days and 183 rounds. It raised Rs. 67,718 Crore (approximately $14.6bn) for the Indian state, including payments to be made by incumbents for set-aside spectrum linked to the auction outcome. This makes it one of the largest spectrum auctions globally in the last decade.

The Department of Telecommunications has announced provisional results, pending formal approval by the Indian Government.

DotEcon, together with N.M. Rothschild (India) advised the Indian government on the award process. The auction used a novel clock auction designed by DotEcon and implemented using DotEcon’s WebBidder auction platform.
