This new consultation was launched in light of the numerous responses received to Ofcom’s latest consultation on the topic and the overall significance of the award.
As the combined award is ‘likely to shape the future of the mobile sector in the UK for the next decade or more’ Ofcom decided to publish another consultation at the end of 2011. Ofcom now aims to run the auction in the fourth quarter of 2012 in advance of the anticipated availability of the 800MHz band in 2013.
