Ofcom finalises reserve prices for the 4G auction

On 12th November, the UK communications regulator Ofcom published the final regulations for the upcoming 4G auction. Ofcom’s statement sets out the details of the final auction rules including the reserve prices for the different spectrum blocks available in the auction. The total reserve price for all of the spectrum on offer is approximately £1.3bn.

Earlier this year we advised Ofcom on appropriate reserve prices for the 4G auction. Our study included a benchmarking analysis estimating the value of spectrum to existing operators and to a potential new entrant. This benchmarking analysis was conducted using data from our Spectrum Awards Database. Our final report is available here.
